EVE

true private community computing on bitcoin & nostr

0 clouds 0 accounts local first, sync later lifetime updates
● hub online · nothing leaves the room

[01] WHAT IT IS

In every cryptography textbook, Eve is the eavesdropper. We named the machine after her. On this one, she hears nothing.

Eve is bootable drives and dedicated machines running EveOS, turning any space (a home, a studio, a clubhouse, a neighborhood) into an encrypted, sovereign hub for messaging, files and payments. Everything is built on top of the Marmot protocol: a community, a CCN, is one very complex Marmot group, whose members send nostr events sealed by MLS encryption, and Eve is the box that stores them. Messages, files and bitcoin payments are all just encrypted events inside the group, kept between the people who matter. There is no platform in the middle, because the platform is the box in the room.

[02] THE HUB

local-first

Everything happens on the machine in the room before it syncs anywhere. No round-trip to a datacenter: messages, files and updates land instantly, even with the internet down.

marmot all the way down

Not just the chat. Everything is built on the Marmot protocol. A CCN is one very complex Marmot group: every message, file and payment is a nostr event sealed by MLS encryption, with forward secrecy and post-compromise security baked in.

keys, not accounts

Identity is a nostr keypair you hold, not a row in someone's user table. No phone number, no email, no signup. Your identity travels with you.

payments built in

Bitcoin is a first-class citizen: send and receive sats inside the community, settle up over lightning, no payment processor watching who pays whom.

files that stay home

Shared documents, photos and media live encrypted on hardware you own, not on a cloud drive that scans them, rate-limits them or deletes the account.

no platform to trust

There is no company in the loop to subpoena, acquire or shut down. Your hardware, your keys, your rules. The hub answers to the community and no one else.

[03] THE HARDWARE

three ways to boot a sovereign hub:

[04] THE VILLAGE

a tool for anyone, because everyone needs privacy. like these folks:

families study groups activists small teams global communities neighborhoods creative collectives research groups sports & fitness crews …and you

The pitch is simple: own your community, own your privacy. Privacy isn't for people with something to hide. It's for everyone, the same way curtains aren't a confession. Group chat platforms come and go: they get acquired, enshittified, subpoenaed. A box in the room running open protocols doesn't. Bring the people, Eve brings the walls.
